Through the Tangles

Through the Tangles

Opening Reception: May 1, 5-7 pm
Closing Reception: June 28, 3–5 pm

Through the Tangles is an interactive installation of wire, words, and space embodying the way we are bound, held, entangled, connected, and released in relationships with others and ourselves. Over the course of the exhibit, through accessing a QR code people can participate in the art by randomly generating a poem from the words in the exhibit and choosing it for inclusion. The poem will be emailed to them and hand written on the tiles of the building throughout the exhibit. A new relationship will be created and the art will change because of it.

Artist Bio: Robin Mullery infuses tenderness into the images, objects, and installations she creates. Working from her background as a therapist she probes her experience of vulnerability and harm, asking questions of and giving shape to what it is to be in relation with another. Throughout her works is a gossamer thread of tenderness woven into the industrial materials, brutalist revisionings, and urban repair. Self-taught in visual art with an MFA in Poetry and an MA in Psychology Mullery is unrestricted by traditional modes of artistic expression, instead intuiting her way to form and shape. She is a Cubberly Artist-in-Residence through 2026.
