Rebirth in Color: Design Tech High School

Rebirth in Color: Design Tech High School

Opening Reception: May 1, 5-7 pm

Oil painting by Mia Tucker

Rebirth in Color celebrates creative freedom, inviting young artists to explore the spirit of spring through painting without constraints. In this first off-campus exhibition from Design Tech High School, students were given a simple yet expansive prompt: "Create what you feel called to create." The result is a vibrant collection of works that reflect renewal, growth, identity, experimentation, and personal voice. Like the season itself, the exhibition does not define rebirth in isolation. Instead, it reveals transformation as something intimate, unexpected, and deeply individual.

This exhibition reflects that philosophy visually. Each painting is an act of exploration from students' and youth's voices. The body of work is an experiment in color, concept, and courage. Some works capture literal signs of spring: blooming landscapes, shifting light, and emerging life. Others embody rebirth in more abstract ways, through emotional renewal, cultural identity, or personal storytelling. Together, these pieces represent young artists stepping into their voices, reminding us that growth is not linear, transformation is ongoing, and creation itself is a powerful form of becoming.

Design Tech High School (d.Tech) is a public charter school supported by Oracle’s Education Foundation and built on the belief that education can be intentionally designed and rooted in the principles of design thinking from Stanfordʻs d.School of engineering, d.Tech encourages students to approach learning with curiosity, empathy, and a willingness to iterate. Project-based experiences, flexible structures, and real-world problem solving are central to our model. Our mission is to develop people who believe the world can be a better place and that they can help make it happen. Our vision is to redesign the high school experience for life.
