Youth Community Mural Project
This mural project is the first large-scale initiative at our new arts space in the historic Hotel Sequoia, and we need your help to ensure it will shine for generations to come. We’re inviting community members, philanthropists, and local businesses to join us in sponsoring this milestone project. Your support will make it possible to permanently display the mural in the Eureka Gallery Studio, where artists host classes, youth create and learn, and our exhibitions inspire connection.

About the Youth Community Mural Project
This summer, our new arts space at the historic Hotel Sequoia in Downtown Redwood City came alive with color, collaboration, and creativity. Led by local artist Elizabeth Gomez, we invited high school and college students (ages 14–24) from across San Mateo County to dream big about the future of the arts in our community.
Together, we created 28 mural panels, each 3×4 feet, inspired by students’ own drawings answering the question: What would you like to do and see at the Center for Creativity? Over 100 young people and community members joined in workshops and painting sessions in July and August 2025. The finished panels will soon be permanently installed in the Eureka Gallery Studio Space at Hotel Sequoia — the very heart of our programming, where artists teach classes and we showcase exhibitions.
The color palette, inspired by turn-of-the-20th-century wallpaper, reflects the muted tones of the Victorian era and celebrates the revitalization of the historic Hotel Sequoia, which has stood proudly in Redwood City since 1912.
This inspiring project was made possible through material funding from the Redwood City Arts Commission.

Thank you for supporting the Center for Creativity and helping us keep the arts alive in our community. Your generosity makes it possible for creativity to flourish and for artists of all ages to share their voices.
